First Grade Music at Bel AirIn first grade, students build on the skills learned in kindergarten music. They learn to sing and match pitch, distinguish high from low pitches and long from short sounds. By the end of the school year, they will be able to sing and write sol-mi patterns on the staff, write quarter (we call it "ta"), two eighth notes (we call it "ta-di") and rest (one beat of silence), and play a variety of instruments. We learn best through play, so your child will bring home many songs and activities to share at home, too!
