Third Grade Music at Bel AirOver the 2015-16 school year, third graders at Bel Air have build upon their knowledge of singing, dancing and playing instruments. Families were invited in to share the experience in December, 2015 and we had a BLAST at our first-ever musical informance (in-class performance). Thank you, families, for dancing "Alabama Gal" with your students and sharing in their music-making! By the end of third grade, students will be able to place solfege on the staff, sing and play their own compositions and accompany their music with instruments.

Story of Peer Gynt (revised): Once there was a naughty boy named Peer. He and his friends wandered into a cave of a tall mountain. Inside the cave, Peer met the Troll king. The Troll king invited him to dinner. Peer and his friends snuck away after dinner, taking the king's gold! While they were sneaking away, he stopped to listen. Trolls were following him. They continued to sneak, and stop, and listen. Soon Peer decided to run away from the Trolls, but they ran after him, too! Peer came to a room with two doors. Both doors were locked. The Troll king took Peer and THREW them off the mountain! Follow the listening map to "In the Hall of the Mountain King" here. Play Peer Gynt's "In the Hall of the Mountain king" here. A student in third grade can play this song on the piano, "We're walking in the air." Check out the video of it with a snowman coming to life! |
